Interchange FX are a foreign currency exchange service based in Central London. We originally teamed up with Interchange back in September 2009 to provide them with SEO services, as they were solely reliant on sales through their own pay-per-click advertising campaign. We soon became concerned with their internal PPC campaign in August 2010 when it suddenly flat lined. Their response was “we’ve switched it off, we couldn’t get the low cost per acquisition with pay per click like you get with organic traffic . Come down to London and we’ll take you out for a drink.” Subsequently, the PPC campaign has been completely disregarded and now the website is maintaining a return on investment solely from natural, ethical search marketing.

Our SEO campaign with Interchange

As said before, Interchange was completely reliant upon traffic directly from pay-per-click advertisements before undertaking an SEO campaign with us. Below is an indication of the competitiveness of four (out of sixteen) search terms that we took on with Interchange, and the challenge we had ahead of us.

Interchange PPC

An average monthly spend for just these four terms were costing £8,000+, which is not including any other terms which they were focusing on! We began a plan of action to gradually reduce the PPC traffic, with the intention for the website to run solely from organic searches. This plan came to a halt when Interchange decided off their own backs to completely turn off their PPC campaign in order to just run the SEO campaign on its own due to its effectiveness and results!

Before joining with us, Interchange Fx was receiving traffic on average from organic searches at around 9,226. From starting a campaign with us in February 2010, the website is receiving around 25,697 hits on average monthly from our SEO campaign. This illustrates the impact an SEO campaign can have on your website and the need for front page visibility via organic rankings (left hand searches) on the search engines.
